Description
Made of Navajo sandstone, the West Temple is the highest peak (7,810 ft. or 2380 m) in the main section of Zion National Park, Utah, with only those peaks in the Kolob taller. It is among the peaks that comprise the Towers of the Virgin. The Temple Cap is the smaller cliff capping the dramatic features of West Temple. It consists of sandstone and a layer of mudstone formed by coastal sand dunes and tidal flats during the incursion of a shallow inland sea.
