Description
Image of a weathered door discovered in Jerome, Arizona. Once a thriving mining town, Jerome was established on the side of Cleopatra Hill in 1883 and was incorporated as a town in 1899. Jerome became a notorious "wild west" town, a hotbed of prostitution, gambling, and vice. In February 1903, the New York Sun proclaimed Jerome to be "the wickedest town in the West. Proclaimed a ghost town in the late 1950s, Jerome is today a tourist destination, with many abandoned and refurbished buildings from its boom town days.
